If you know of a business that’s as rare of a find as a four-leaf clover, nominate it for the 2017 Clovies Business Excellence Awards.

Now in its second year, the annual event honours excellence in the Cloverdale business community. Any business that’s located in Cloverdale or is a member of the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce is eligible for an award. Nomination forms are available online, and they are open until Feb. 21.

The three finalists for each category will be announced at the beginning of April.

The 2017 Clovies will take place on April 27 at Northview Golf and Country Club, and will have a Hollywood-theme, said Raminder Thomas, Executive Director of the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce.

“The event went over really well last year,” said Thomas. “It’s a great way to recognize what our businesses are doing here in Cloverdale so we wanted to ensure that we continue to support and encourage our businesses.”

Categories include excellence for large and small businesses, organizations that embrace environmental stewardship and sustainability, new business of the year, young entrepreneur of the year, the not-for-profit of the year, and the Bill Reid Memorial Business Person of the Year, which honours an inspirational leader within a local organization.

The Clovies are named not only for the Clover Valley but also in honour of the four-leaf clover’s symbolic meaning and rarity. Not only are they a one-in-ten-thousand find, the leaves of the clover also traditionally represent faith, hope, love and luck, four qualities that the Chamber believes all Clovie recipients illustrate.

According to Thomas, the event is expected to sell out again this year, with 250 seats available.

“It’ll be a great event,” said Thomas. “It’s an opportunity for everyone to get dressed up and network and just have a fun night out.”

Tickets are available for an early-bird price of $75 until March 17, and afterwards at a regular price of $85 to $95.
