Force, Fury in Showcase Selects playoff round

Knockout competition begins tomorrow

The Fleetwood Force will be seeded fifth for the nine-team single-knockout playoff in the Showcase Selects (16-andpunder) division at the Scotiabank Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship tournament.

The Force won two of four games in round robin play, and will open the single-knockout playoff against the Strawberry Vale Stealth of Victoria tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. at Cloverdale Athletic Park.

The Cloverdale Fury will go into the playoff as the eighth-seed, and play the winless Richmond Islanders ‘96B tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. The winner will face the unbeaten Abbotsford Outlaws ‘96B in the quarterfinal round later in the day at 1 p.m..

The Showcase Selects final will be played at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Softball City.

The Richmond Islanders will carry the number-one seed into the Futures Select double-knockout playoff which begins tomorrow. The Islanders were the lone unbeaten team after four round robin games, and will open the playoff round at 3:30 p.m. at Cloverdale Athletic Park against the South Surrey/White Rock Thunder  ‘94.

The Port Coquitlam Ravens and South Delta Invaders, both with 3-1 (won-lost) records, are seeded second and third respectively.

The championship game is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Softball City.
