Third-period surge propels Eagles to Game 3 win
The Surrey Eagles are one win away from the second round of BC Hockey League playoffs after a 6-2 Game 3 victory over the Langley Rivermen Monday night in Langley.
A strong third period propelled the Birds to victory Monday, as the team – which led just 2-1 after two periods – exploded for four goals in the final 20 minutes.
Brady Shaw scored first, 3:10 into the period, to put Surrey up 3-1, and Adam Tambellini then added two more insurance goals, and Demico Hannoun tacked on another for good measure, with 4:03 left to play.
With four seconds remaining in the game, Langley made it 6-2 with a power-play goal from Trevor Cope.
The Eagles are up 2-1 in the best-of-five first-round showdown. Game 4 goes tonight (Tuesday) at the Langley Events Centre. Should the Rivermen win to extend the series, a fifth game will be held Wednesday in South Surrey.
The two teams split the first two games of the series, at South Surrey Arena last weekend. Surrey opened with a 2-0 win Friday and Langley bounced back with a 1-0 victory the following night.
