Fire Fighters, RCMP play on Toque Tuesday
Eight ball hockey teams from local community groups will take to the floor at the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre Feb. 5 for the second annual Toque Tuesday Hockey Day.
The event, which takes place from 10 a,.m. to 2 p.m., is being held in support of national Toque Tuesday, the day on which Canadians are asked to collectively ‘put a cap’ on youth homelessness.
Local MLAs and participants from the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Association, Surrey RCMP, Douglas College and South Fraser Community Serviceswill face off against Surrey’s homeless players in twenty-minute games. The feature game at 10 a.m. has the Surrey RCMP vs. the Surrey Fire Fighters.
Residents are encouraged to show their support by donating new toques, winter shoes or boots, winter coats, and warm socks. Hot dogs and beverages will be available by donation or free for those who cannot afford to donate.
