Eagles net hockey grant
They did it. And you helped get them there.
After weeks of public voting, the local minor hockey team that took to YouTube to garner support for its bid to win a financial prize has won the All Star Grants contest.
The Cloverdale H4 Eagles are one of 10 B.C. minor hockey teams that will receive $2,000 grants from Best Buy, through its All Star Grants contest – developed to coincide with the company’s support of the Vancouver Canucks.
Entrants were asked to submit a photo, video and description of the team, plus explain how the grant would be used.
Nearly 300 teams entered the overall contest, with the top team earning 10,000 votes in the online contest.
Another local team, the Surrey H3 Penguins, has also won $2,000. The Eagles received the money Dec. 15 at a special presentation in Langley.
