Surrey's Wong leads Phantom
Mackenzie Wong of Surrey has been named B.C. Hockey’s Female Midget AAA Player of the Month for October.
Wong, a member of the Fraser Valley Phantom, finished the month as the league’s leading scorer with five goals and 10 points in eight games played. The Phantom are currently first in the five-team league for elite 125-17 year-old players with an 8-3-1 (won-lost-tied) record.
“Mackenzie has started the year as a leader, not only with goals and assists,” said head coach of the Phantom Dean Reed. “She also has continued to be a strong vocal leader with the team.”
Wong played for Team BC at the recent Women’s Under-18 National Championships Nov. 7-11 in Dawson Creek, scoring once and assisting on two other goals to help Team BC to a fourth place finish in the eight-team competition.
