In Photos: Brent Hayden's 100 metre bronze medal
We know Brent Hayden is from Mission – not Cloverdale – but the swimmer has been one of Canada's greatest athletic ambassadors for a longtime, and his bronze medal in Wednesday's 100 metre freestyle final means that the Fraser Valley has another piece of hardware coming its way.
On Wednesday, White Rock's Christine Girard won bronze in weightlifting, showing that the Lower Mainland and Surrey is well represented at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
*UPDATE: On Thursday, Hayden finished seventh in the semifinal of the men's 50 m freestyle event. His final race is on Friday in the 4 x 100 m relay.
