A mighty medal
White Rock’s Christine Girard won Olympic bronze Tuesday morning in London.
The 27-year-old weight lifter was one of Canada’s top medal hopes leading into the Summer Games.
Her 133 kg lift earned her Canada’s fourth bronze medal, and the country’s first-ever Olympic medal in women’s weightlifting.
Girard trains in South Surrey with the Semi Weightlifting Club.
“It’s a very big breakthrough for Canadian lifting, but we’re just elated here, too,” Semi Weightlifting founder Dieter Stamm said
