Poppy funds are spread around the Cloverdale community
To the editor;
We are fast approaching November 11th and we will be out in the community for our annual Poppy Campaign.
This is our major funding campaign to support all veterans and ex-service members. Many of the benefits that are available today are due to the persistence of dedicated Legion members, e.g., the Veterans Transition Program, seniors programs, spousal benefits, and medical assistance.
When you purchase a poppy it symbolizes the supreme sacrifice that men and women have given in the theatre of war, and your contribution assists those who are in need of our support.
On a yearly basis, The Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch 6 donates to the community. The money is raised through the Gaming Fund, meat draws, and the Poppy Fund, all of which have specific criteria for their distribution. The Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 6 Cloverdale has also contributed $12,627.
