Transit users: the next generation

International Walk to School Week is coming up.

It’s International Walk to School Week.

And if all 70,000 students enrolled in the Surrey School District decided to use good old-fashioned foot power to get to classes, it could get a little chaotic out there.

Fortunately, they can take the bus for free.

From Oct. 3 to 7, TransLink is inviting students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to climb on board transit – at no cost (provided they have a valid GoCard).

The campaign is a chance for schools to educate students about transportation options, TransLink CEO Ian Jarvis says.

The agency also views “iWeek” as an opportunity to help train a new generation of transit users.
