Homicide police are investigating near Squamish after a body was found in a burned vehicle on the Cheeky Forest Road.

The male victim – who remains unidentified – was found by Squamish RCMP on June 14, in a 2000 red GMC Yukon XL. Police say the incident is being treated as a homicide.

“Due to the difficulty of fire investigations and the suspicious nature of the incident [the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team] was engaged from the onset” said Squamish RCMP Cpl. Sascha Banks.

IHIT is requesting anyone with information about the man, vehicle or suspicious activity on the forest road on June 13 to 14 to contact them.
