Surrey RCMP and paramedics attend to the victim of a gunshot wound found dumped near the Surrey-Langley border around midnight on Wednesday.

Surrey RCMP are investigating the fifth incident of gun violence in the city since Monday night.

On Wednesday (March 11), at approximately 11:55 p.m., police were advised by the B.C. Ambulance Service that they had been contacted about a male shooting victim laying in the 19300-block of 80 Avenue.

RCMP attended and a 28-year-old male, who is a resident of Langley, was found being helped by several local residents and suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh.

The man was transported to hospital by ambulance in serious but stable condition.

The victim is known to police.

He told police he was shot in a vehicle in another location and then was dumped on the road near the Surrey-Langley border.

Police believe this was a targeted shooting.

It is the latest in a string of violent encounters in Surrey this week.

On Wednesday afternoon police were called out to investigate shots fired at 80 Avenue and 132 Street – just hours after holding a press conference regarding three other shootings.

At 4 a.m. Tuesday (March 10), a 20-year-old man was dropped off at hospital with gunshot wounds. He was treated and released.

At 5:50 p.m. that same day, police found an abandoned vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting.

About an hour later, police were called to 127 Street and 78 Avenue with reports of another shooting.

Shortly after, a second vehicle arrived at the hospital with two other males, plus another 20-year-old victim that had been shot.

It appears that a vehicle came up beside a black vehicle, and a number of shots were fired at the vehicle, one of which struck the victim.

Then, at 11 p.m., Surrey RCMP received several calls reporting gunfire in the area of 128 Street and 76 Avenue.

All people believed to be involved had fled by the time police arrived. Investigators were told by witnesses that four dark-coloured vehicles were seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

Surrey RCMP are asking for the public's assistance and asking anyone who may have witnessed any of these shootings or the vehicles involved are asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
