CLAYTON — Police say a young person was arrested after an incident at Surrey’s Clayton Heights Secondary on Tuesday (April 18).

Surrey RCMP Sergeant Alanna Dunlop told the Now-Leader police were called to the school around noon Tuesday about a situation “contained in the office area” and administration staff requested help in “managing the situation.”

“We attended and no other students were involved and we are continuing to investigate,” said Dunlop.

“I can’t really go into specifics regarding the young person,” she replied when asked if the person detained was a student of the school.

Dunlop said that to her knowledge, the school wasn’t locked down during the incident.

“It was confined to the office area, and there was administrative staff there when we arrived,” she added.

In a letter sent home to parents, Principal Baljit Ranu wrote that “a student had become very agitated while in a teacher’s office and police were called to assist in managing the situation” and that “some of the police officers ran quickly through the school to get to the teacher’s office.

“The situation was resolved quickly,” Ranu added. “No other students were involved.”
