Call-in meeting to talk Surrey transit
Are the answers to Surrey’s woeful transit problems a rapid bus, or community shuttles, or Light Rapid Transit, or all of the above?
Those are some of the questions discussed in a telephone town hall meeting Wednesday, hosted by Surrey councillor and undeclared mayoral candidate Barinder Rasode.
“Residents tell me all the time they’re fed up with inadequate transit service and more needs to be done to solve the transportation issues in Surrey,” said Rasode, who sits on the City of Surrey’s Transportation Committee.
“People are stuck in their cars and unable to rely on transit to get around our city, and that’s not acceptable. And the situation will only worsen as more families move to Surrey.”
Rasode says transportation is top of mind now that everyone is returning from summer holidays.
Peter Holt, a local transportation advisor and former CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade, will also be joining the telephone town hall meeting.
Rasode says she will be providing callers with an update on some of the key transportation projects in the city to answer questions, listen to concerns and gather feedback.
It will be held Sept. 3, 7 to 9 p.m. The call-in number is 1-877-229-8493 (Event ID: 113192)
