Woman killed by semi truck in Surrey
A 50-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a semi-truck.
On Tuesday, at about 7:20 a.m., a semi was heading eastbound on 104 Avenue near 148 Street, and struck the woman who was crossing 104 Avenue at lighted intersection.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say early indications are that the woman had the right of way, and the semi driver ran a red light.
Police also say there's no indication that speed or alcohol were factors in the fatality.
Traffic in the area is expected to be closed until 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation continues.
