'Fringe' runs for cover in Cloverdale
A group of terrified survivors running to safety on a windswept street filled with debris and tangled, wrecked cars.
The 5600-block of 176 Street looked like it had been hit by a natural disaster Tuesday, when a TV crew filmed scenes for an upcoming episode of the cult sci-fi hit, Fringe.
All traces of the Christmas season had to be erased from the block impacted by the Dec. 6 shoot. The normally festive shopping district was transformed overnight into a desolate urban wasteland, U.S. flags fixed to lamp posts and a tattered street banner replacing festive evergreen wreaths and glittering stars along the block.
Actors John Noble, Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson were easily spotted during the long hours the production spent filming outside in the drizzle.
Later, the production headed indoors to Dann's Electronics, doubling as a plumbing supply store at the fictitious corner of Quimby Road and Cypress Street.
The production spent three days on location in Cloverdale filming scenes for an upcoming season four episode called "Welcome to Westfield", which will air sometime in the new year.
