Transit users: the next generation
It's International Walk to School Week.
And if all 70,000 students enrolled in the Surrey School District decided to use good old-fashioned foot power to get to classes, it could get a little chaotic out there.
Fortunately, they can take the bus for free.
From Oct. 3 to 7, TransLink is inviting students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to climb on board transit – at no cost (provided they have a valid GoCard).
The campaign is a chance for schools to educate students about transportation options, TransLink CEO Ian Jarvis says.
The agency also views "iWeek" as an opportunity to help train a new generation of transit users.
