Police still seeking postie attacker
Surrey RCMP are once again appealing for public assistance in finding those responsible for an unprovoked attack on a postal worker in Whalley in mid-December.
On the morning of Dec. 15, a 44-year-old letter carrier was attacked minutes after he picked up his bundle of mail from the grey Canada Post box outside an apartment building near 132 Street and 105 Avenue. The postal worder was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his head.
The police have determined a small bundle of mail was stolen from the letter carrier, which he was carrying when he was attacked. The incident is believed to be isolated.
“This is a rare attack that occurred in broad daylight in a heavily populated area,” says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger. “We are hopeful that by appealing again to the public some additional information may come to light.”
The postal worker is currently still off work recovering from his injuries.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP Robbery Section at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if you wish to remain anonymous.
