Local guitar player/teacher Troy Kneebone loves the guitar.

“I love everything about them – how they sound, what they represent and especially how they look. I see guitars as pieces of art,” he says. “Each one is unique and each has its own story."

Kneebone began to share his love of the guitar with others through social media under the name Studio33Guitar, attracting more than  25,000 followers since January.

“It began with Instagram. I simply started posting pictures of my personal guitars in various settings and arrangements. As my following grew, I realized many others share a similar affinity for guitars.

“I changed the focus from my own guitar collection to others’ and started receiving photos from people all over the world asking to be featured. I sort through those photos, choosing ones that speak to me and I post those on their behalf.”

This “community” approach quickly expanded onto Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest where it allowed Kneebone to not only share photos, but also news articles and stories about guitars.

The most recent step in this evolving community has been the launch of the website www.studio33guitar.com.

“On the social media sites, we are limited to certain types of interactions” said Kneebone, “but on the website we can include so much more. We have a photo gallery and blog as well as free video lessons where people can learn how to play guitar.”

"The best part is the forum where people from all over the world can connect and talk about guitars. Many are beginners who are receiving advice from more experienced players on the site."

To help the beginner learn, the site includes free video lessons that feature Kneebone teaching the curriculum he has created over the years.

“It’s exciting to take a step back and watch this community help each other” he said. “I am not the only teacher here. Everyone in our community has the ability to teach something to another member.
