And the winners are…

A short film called Time Friends has been named best film at the Surrey Little Theatre's 50-Hour Film Challenge.

Screening awards for the fifth annual movie-making marathon – which challenges teams to write, shoot, and edit a short film over a single weekend – were held Oct. 20.

As first-place winners, Batcave Casual Friday receives a $500 prize for Time Friends. The team of young men are also alumni of the SLT's youth group. They were members more than a decade ago.

Second place and $200 went to the Film Hogs, a team of 15-year-old boys, and their 2012 effort, Skipping Out. This is the second year in a row Film Hogs have won second place at the SLT film challenge.

Last year, they earned prizes for Sorry You're Dead. Four of the Film Hogs attend Earl Marriott Secondary, except for Patrick Macht, who's a Grade 10 student at Clayton Heights Secondary.
