A pair of artists – one from Surrey and one from Langley – have teamed up for an art show opening in Newton this month.

The work of Gunilla Lindgren and Catherine Sheppard will be on display at the Newton Cultural Centre throughout March in a show titled Labour of Love.

Lindgren, who grew up in a small town in Sweden and now lives in Langley, does figure drawings, landscapes and still life in watercolour and acrylic. She has participated in several art shows in the Lower Mainland and currently has work on exhibit in White Rock and the Fraser Valley.

Surrey’s Sheppard is, for the most part, self taught. She will showcase a host of pictures, including wildlife and nostalgia pieces. Antiques hold a strong fascination for her. She uses a variety of media, including watercolour, oil, paint and pastel.

The Newton Cultural Centre, operated by the Arts Council of Surrey, is located at 13530 72 Ave. and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An opening reception for Labour of Love will be held March 9, 1-3 p.m. For more information, call 604-594-2700.
