Damn it, Janet. Looks like movie buffs won't be doing the Time Warp at the Clova Cinema this Halloween after all.

The family-owned theatre brought the cult classic to historic downtown Cloverdale last year, presenting a midnight screening that attracted costumed and prop-weilding fans from across the Lower Mainland.

The Clova tried to bring the movie back this year, but were not successful.

"I know lots of you wanted Rocky Horror Picture Show and I assure you we tried, and tried, and tried, but unfortunately, they're short a print and we were not able to get a copy this year," Samantha writes in this week's Clova newsletter. "Hopefully next year will be a go."

The low budget 1975 musical is a send-up of the Sci-fi, B-movie tradition. It follows Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick), who's a bit of a square, and his fiancee Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon) as they fall under the thrall of the garter belt-wearing Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Currie), who lives in a creepy mansion filled with the bizarre, partying denizens from the distant galaxy of Transylvania.

Long before home video or annual Halloween broadcasts on TV, the campy, risque film attracted a following as a midnight sideshow, with audience members quoting and making up dialogue, and mirroring the action on the screen through the aid of props like newspapers, rice, and water pistols.

But there are plenty of other movies to choose from. Playing to Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. is The Help, and I Don't Know How She Does It at 9:35 p.m.

Starting Friday, the Clova will be playing Puss N Boots at 7 p.m. daily to Nov. 11.
