Cloverdale Blueberry Festival: art among the berries
Get a taste of some of Surrey’s artistic talent at this year’s eighth annual Cloverdale Blueberry Festival.
Located at the Surrey Museum Plaza (17710 56A Ave.), the Blueberry Art Festival features several artists displaying their talent in a juried art walk.
The Arts Council of Surrey presents the art competition in conjunction with the Cloverdale Blueberry Festival as a way to promote and showcase local talent – not only artists, but crafters and performers as well, notes Arts Council of Surrey president Carol Girardi.
Six artists will be showing their work in the art walk and more than 10 local crafters will display their wares in a craft fair at the same time.
And, throughout the day, local entertainers and performers will perform on the plaza stage, from popular singer/songwriter Joe Given to Susan’s Paradise of Polynesian Dancers, from youth performers and African dancers to South Asian dancing.
There will be activities and crafts for kids all day long; families can even make summer crafts they can take home and join in on old-fashioned games.
“It’s going to be a great time,” says Girardi.
“The artists and crafters and performers are all just amazing. Also, I understand there will be blueberry pie,” she sums up, with a smile.
