East Panorama Ridge residents get together "just for the fun of it," at old fashioned park gathering.

Residents nosh on free food and fun at an Old Fashioned Community Party at the Park

Community spirit is alive and thriving, says the president of a local community association that put on a “good old fashioned community party” at a neighbourhood park over the Labour Day weekend.

Debbie Lawrance of the East Panorama Ridge Community Association says about 80 residents joined in the fun and frivolity at the event, noshing on free food, winning door prizes (over 40 items were donated by local businesses), and taking in an outdoor movie, A Dolphin Tale, presented by Fresh Air Cinema.

The event – organized “just for the fun of it” – drew a “completely diverse group of community members” from all ages and all walks of life, Lawrance said.
