Kids' hair salon holds fundraiser

A new hair salon for children is holding a fundraiser for the Surrey Firefighters Association Burn Fun this weekend.

Fintastics Cuts for Kids at 101 15905 Fraser Highway will be offering gifts to the first 50 kids who show up (and Starbuck's coffee for grownups).

Surrey's acting mayor Marvin Hunt will be on hand at 10 a.m. April 9 for the ribbon cutting (the event is also the salon's grand opening). MLA Jagrup Brar will make an appearance at the day's close at 5 p.m. There will be a chance for kids to meet firefighter Mark Bernoia.

The salon has TV/DVD and radio-equipped chairs where young clients can also play videogames.

The day-long event also features magic shows and a concert by blues musician Wes Mackey, and more.
