The Gateway of Hope has launched its annual kettle campaign, and it needs volunteers to ensure those red buckets get filled with donations this holiday season.
The annual Salvation Army fundraiser keeps the money it collects close to home, said Gateway’s Krista Hannan.
“All the money we make here in Langley and Aldergrove stays here to serve Gateway of Hope in Langley and Aldergrove,” Hannan said.
The campaign requires a lot of people.
“It takes a literal army,” Hannan said.
There are 3,000 two-hour shifts to fill between now and Christmas.
One volunteer is Kristie Kerr.
“I’m really excited,” she said, as this is her first year volunteering. An injury has kept Kerr from working, and she wanted to give back to her community.
