It’s time to prepare your plans to participate in the Aldergrove Fair Days Parade on Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m.

“We encourage you to get into the theme and groove out to ‘flower power’ with tie-dyed clothing, flowers and the cool music of the sixties,” said Fair Days spokesperson Karen Long.

The entry deadline is July 12 but it’s better to plan ahead and get your parade float shipshape for the big day.

There will be everything from antique vehicles and horse-drawn carriages to marching bands and dog walkers in the Aldergrove Fair Days Parade.

Parade floats and vehicles must be properly serviced and in good mechanical condition to ensure safety of everyone in the parade. Municipal bylaws prohibit the throwing of candies or gifts of any kind from the vehicles or floats, and children under the age of 12 are not permitted to march alone in the parade — they must be accompanied by an adult.

Larger floats should check in by 8 a.m. and all floats must be lined up by 9 a.m. From 9 to 9:45 a.m. there will be judging of the floats and entries, and bands, marching units and drill teams should be in place by 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at 10 a.m. sharp.

The check-in point for parade participants is on Old Yale Road north of Fraser Hwy., just by 268 Street and across from the Aldergrove Community Policing Office.
