Cloverdale Library offers family history programs this fall
The Cloverdale Library is offering upcoming family history workshops this fall, from free orientation sessions on the library's extensive resources to a five-part workshop getting underway tonight.
Start Searching Your Family History is a beginner's workshop in five lessons that begins tonight (Sept. 9) and runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday nights from Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 15 and Nov. 4.
This Saturday (Sept. 21), the library offers an Introduction to Family History, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, a session for people who are interested in tracing their family history but don't know where to start. Find out what's available and where, how to document what you find, and pick up tips and tricks related to genealogical research. This session is $10.
Free Family History Collection Orientations are offered monthly to Dec. 7. There's no charge, but pre-registration is recommended. Participants will learn how to use one of the most extensive collections of Canadian genealogical materials in Western Canada. The orientation includes finding online information, books and journals, plus microfilm records.
The orientation sessions are from 10-10:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, Nov. 9 and Dec. 7.
Register in person at the branch, 5642 176A Street, Surrey, or call 604-598-7327 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
