If you’re looking to add a horse to your life, now just may be the time.

That’s the word from Greener Pastures, the B.C. Standardbred Horse Adoption Society.

With the spring harness racing season coming to a close this weekend at Fraser Downs, more retiring race horses will be coming off the track. Live harness racing resumes in August after a two-month summer break.

Greener Pastures currently has nine horses on their adoption list, meaning they’re nearly at full capacity.

By adopting, you’ll open up space for a new arrival at the South Langley facility.

Greener Pastures finds good homes for retired Standardbred horses, a friendly, calm, and sensible breed that adapts well to the saddle. The horses are donated by racing owners who wish to have them placed in caring recreational homes. The society’s website features 296 success stories that have been written since the organization formed in 2003.

To meet the horses currently up for adoption, visit www.greener-pastures.ca, or text/call Alina at 778-549-9282. An adoption fee of $600 comes with a 30-day trial.
