Cloverdale hosts forklift championships
A mighty competition involving skill, precision and the ability to use a forklift to sink a basketball is returning to Cloverdale.
The 15th annual B.C. Championship Forklift Rally is Saturday, May 5 at the Cloverdale Agriplex. Participants compete in four divisions for a total of $3,500 in prizes.
The rally is a forklift skills and safety competition featuring the elite operators from around the province.
It was originally conceived as a way to promote safety and best practices in the industry.
Participants compete in a precision driving course involving various forklift activities (the categories are: narrow aisle reach truck, counterbalanced electric and propane, and power pallet jack), in addition to completing a written multiple choice exam.
There’s also forklift basketball, bowling and soccer.
Competition is fierce, but it’s a fun event that’s suitable for the whole family: there’s a bouncy castle, food and refreshments, and other attractions.
Admission is free for spectators.
The competition starts at 10 a.m., and the awards ceremony is scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m.
