A Surrey non-profit agency has been recognized as one of the best-run in the country, receiving $15,000 for excellence in delivering social services.

Servants Anonymous Society (SAS) of Surrey was among seven agencies recognized at the Donner Canadian Foundation Awards  on Dec. 2 in Toronto.

SAS was a joint recipient of the $20,000 William H. Donner Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services, which is the award for the top-performing agency overall. It also took home the Award for Excellence in the Prevention of Substance Abuse, which came with an additional $5,000 prize.

SAS is a first-time finalist and recipient this year at the awards. The society is a participant-centrered approach to recovery for female youth and women who seek sobriety, to exit the sex trade, or are at risk of being sexually exploited.
