MLA's new Cloverdale office is open for business
Surrey-Cloverdale’s new MLA officially opened her constituency office last week, welcoming a parade of well-wishers and neighbours into the bright, recently-renovated corner suite on Cloverdale's main street.
Stephanie Cadieux was joined by her constituency assistants SharonCrowson and Holly Halford at the Oct. 9 open house, along with Surrey city councillors, social services contacts and local business owners, who were also invited to meet with Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, Shirley Bond.
The ground floor office is at 101 5658 176 Street, and is now open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, ready to help constituents and assist Cadieux with her MLA duties and her role as Minister of Children and Family Development. (Meetings with Cadieux are by appointment – call first.)
Cadieux, first elected in 2009 in Surrey-Panorama, ran in her home riding of Surrey-Cloverdale for the first time last spring in the seat formerly represented by Kevin Falcon, whose constituency office was located at nearby Clover Square Village.
Cadieux wanted an airier office in the historic town centre, and eventually chose the building renovated by Frontline Real Estate. She used one of the storefront offices for her 2013 campaign.
It’s taken several months to get the new office ready for business. For example, an indoor parking garage was added at the back of the office, ensuring Cadieux, who uses a wheelchair, has accessible, safe parking.
Assistants Crowson, who worked for Falcon and Cadieux, and Halford are job sharing their role.

Crowson says the majority of constituency work involves pointing people in the right direction – whether it’s municipal, regional, provincial or a federal matter.
“It’s almost enabling people to help themselves,” Crowson said. “The vast majority is sending people in the right direction and doing follow up.”
