More casino details emerge
A casino and hotel, an 800-seat theatre and a massive convention centre are the key features of a casino proposed for South Surrey, proponents revealed at a preview last week in Langley.
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment’s plans show a landscaped complex that includes a 60,000-square foot gaming floor, 200-room hotel, plus a convention and entertainment zone – featuring the largest live venue of its kind in Surrey – along with four restaurants and three lounges.
If approved by the City of Surrey, the $100 million project, to be located across 18 acres on a parcel at 10 Avenue and 168 Street, could open 18 months after breaking ground, said Tanya Gabara, community liaison for Gateway Casinos, who was joined at the event by the company’s general counsel, James Chen.
The public’s first chance to view and comment on renderings and details of the plan was slated for yesterday (Nov. 7, after the Reporter’s deadline), at the Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club.
A community forum for comment will be available online for an extended period, Gabara and Chen added.
